Holiday in the green nature or rather on the beautiful North Sea beach? In Sahlenburg, no one has to decide, because there is just about everything you need for a varied and relaxing holiday:
The Cuxhaven coastal heaths with 2,200 ha of forest, moorland and heathland in the hinterland are unique on the German North Sea coast and the mudflat Sea World Heritage Site in front of it is unique in the whole world. And all this can be discovered by bike, on horseback or on foot.
Where the marina tower stood until 2014, there is now a meeting place for kiters and surfers in the midst of nature.
At the UNESCO mudflat Sea World Heritage Visitor Centre you can learn everything about this globally unique and irreplaceable natural landscape. Educational exhibitions and guided excursions into the mudflats give you an insight into the mudflat Sea World Heritage Site. From here, the island of Neuwerk can be reached on foot, on horseback or by tidal flat wagon. Only 10 kilometres separate the island from the coast.
In Sahlenburg, the sea is at your feet and offers young and old a variety of attractions and water sports. Swimming, catamaran sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing attract water sports enthusiasts. Guests with dogs are welcome at the dog beach in Sahlenburg. The luck of the earth is also here on horseback: there are not many places in this world where you have the opportunity to ride a horse directly from a national park into a world natural heritage site.
In Sahlenburg you can spend a wonderful holiday with your family in the midst of nature: a wide sandy beach with cosy beach chairs, in front of it the North Sea and behind it an extraordinary coastal landscape with a wooded area stretching to the sea and a heath landscape with distinctive flora and fauna. Family-friendly holiday flats, holiday homes, hotels, riding stables and campsites leave nothing to be desired when looking for accommodation.
Dive into warm fresh water and do your laps in the outdoor swimming pool in the forest. The events on the forest stage provide fun and entertainment. The Sahlenburgers celebrate their seasonal highlight at the Watt'n Fest. At the adventure playground, children can slide and swing to their heart's content. The climbing park offers climbing opportunities on seven courses of all levels of difficulty for all ages.
